Partner

Gerald T. Rohrer, Jr. joined IFMK Law as a Partner with nearly thirty years of experience as a trial lawyer, appellate practitioner and legal counselor successfully representing clients in a wide variety of complex cases including construction defects, mechanic’s liens and bond claims; wrongful death and catastrophic personal injury matters arising out of construction accidents, premises liability, auto/trucking; governmental tort immunity; breach of contract; litigation related to the sale of closely held corporations; insurance coverage; property disputes; and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) arbitrations involving forgivable promissory notes.  Gerry has obtained favorable Appellate and Illinois Supreme Court victories and he provides legal counsel and representation to privately held corporations in various matters including corporate governance, employment law issues, non-compete and confidentiality agreements, and operating agreements.

Gerry’s notable summary judgments include one on behalf of a manufacturer in a matter which went to a jury trial, resulting in a net verdict of $1.6 million in favor of the plaintiff, and summary judgment in a wrongful death matter on behalf of a large local public entity in a case wherein two employees of a subcontractor died of oxygen deficiency while working in a manhole.

Many of Gerry’s successes also involve settlements that helped his clients avoid trial.  These include a construction accident, a multi-party COVID-19 wrongful death and survival action stemming from alleged transmission in an industrial setting, and a settlement during mediation on behalf of roofing subcontractor as third-party defendant in a multi-party construction defect matter.
