IFMK Law Partner Julie Bruch won an appeal before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit where she defended a local college as well as the current and former college presidents. The Seventh Circuit ruled that the former vice-president failed to prove that she was fired by the college in retaliation for filing a charge of race discrimination, retaliation, and unequal pay with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Illinois Department of Human Rights. Following discovery, IFMK Law filed a motion for summary judgment in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois which was granted in its entirety. The plaintiff subsequently appealed and after briefing and oral argument, the Seventh Circuit affirmed judgment in favor of the college and presidents.
