IFMK Law Partner Julie Bruch represented the Kendall County State’s Attorney in a lawsuit alleging that he knowingly facilitated alleged sexual misconduct committed by a former Assistant State’s Attorney. The Plaintiff sued the State’s Attorney and a former Assistant State’s Attorney, alleging a violation of the Gender Violence Act and reckless supervision.
A panel of the 2nd District Appellate Court affirmed the Circuit Court’s decision to dismiss the suit, ruling that the Plaintiff did not sufficiently allege that the Kendall County State’s Attorney encouraged, assisted or could foresee alleged acts of gender-based violence committed by the former Assistant State’s Attorney. The specific facts of the case (Noto v. Shlifka, 2024 IL App (2d) 240093) were published online in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin on December 4, 2024. Julie Bruch was quoted in the Law Bulletin article.
