Congratulations to IFMK Law Senior Associate, Lance Neyland, and his colleagues for their recent win in the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago.
IMFK Law clients, two Police Officers, had been sued by the Plaintiff who alleged that the officers subjected him to false arrest, excessive force, and failure to intervene in a December 2016 dispute at a tow yard. A jury found the officers not liable in September 2021 on all counts. The Plaintiff appealed to the Seventh Circuit, claiming that a new trial was warranted due to a failure to disclose documents of a prior arrest, and that the court erred in permitting the the attorneys to question him about the prior arrest at trial.
In June 2023 the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the jury verdicts in favor of the police officers on claims of excessive force. Lance Neyland wrote the briefs with other IFMK Law attorneys and argued the case before the Seventh Circuit. The order was issued just three weeks after his argument.
