IFMK Law attorney, Lance Neyland, was successful in defending against a “no stalking/no contact” petition in a northern Illinois county on behalf of his client, a County Deputy Sheriff. The plaintiff was a local resident known to the Sheriff’s office for committing various petty crimes. He claimed that said Deputy Sheriff committed several stalking incidents, alleging that he was following the plaintiff and confronting him at various times while on duty. After Neyland provided discovery and participated in a hearing, the IFMK Law team prevailed by showing the court that it was the Plaintiff, not the Sheriff, who was instigating the confrontations and that the Sheriff was not taking any actions to go out of his way to seek out this individual. The court ruled in favor of the Sheriff and denied Plaintiff’s petition.
