In a lawsuit filed by a federal inmate, alleging a search was conducted in an unconstitutional matter, IFMK Law Attorney, Joe Bracey successfully defended two Illinois county jail officers. The Plaintiff, a federal inmate held in the county jail, was taken to Federal Court in Peoria for a hearing in his criminal proceedings. The two jail officers picked him up from the courthouse after the hearing and patted him down in a routine manner, per the safety protocol, in the presence of the U.S. Marshalls, before leaving the courthouse for the jail. Plaintiff alleged that the pat-down search was conducted in an unconstitutional manner, claiming that one of the officers groped or fondled him, intending to humiliate him or gratify his sexual desires; and the other officer failed to intervene. A jury found both officers not liable and entered judgment in their favor.
